West Virginia University Potomac State 大学 held its 83rd Recognition Day 奖s ceremony earlier this spring during the annual Weekend of Honors. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni were recognized and presented with various awards.
Mason Belt receives two awards
Mason Belt, a biology major from Ridgeley, W.Va., was presented with the Morris Organic Chemistry 博士奖项. Roshan Lamichhane, assistant professor of chemistry. 这个奖项是 named for Jasper Morris, a former professor of chemistry and physics at the 大学. The student receiving this award must have the highest average in organic chemistry, both in lecture and laboratory, for the two-semester 序列.
Belt also received the W.E. 迈克尔 Biology award which is bestowed in memory of Professor Emeritus W.E. 迈克尔, who taught at the 大学 for 33 years. 这个奖项是 given to the student with the highest average in the complete biology major 序列 and was presented by Biology Professor Erin Cunningham.
亚莉克莎 Shoemaker receives Maurice Powell General Chemistry 奖
亚莉克莎 鞋匠, biology major from Keyser, W.Va., was presented with the Maurice Powell General Chemistry 奖. 这 award is named for Maurice Powell, who served for many years as chairman of the 大学’s chemistry department. The student receiving this award must have the highest average in both lecture and laboratory for the complete two-semester 序列 of Chemistry 115 and 116. Assistant Professor Ganesh Ghimire presented 这个奖项.
Saige米勒 presented with General Biology 奖
Saige米勒, a pre-occupational therapy major from Keyser, W.Va., was presented with the Maurice Powell General Chemistry 奖. 这个奖项是 presented by Instructor Farren 史密斯.
Ava Buser receives Dr. Henry Falkowski Survey of Chemistry 奖
Ava Buser, a pre-nursing major from Ridgeley, W.Va, was presented with the Dr. Henry Falkowski Survey of Chemistry 奖. 这 award is bestowed in memory of Dr. Henry Falkowski, who served as a professor in the chemistry department for 41 years at the 大学. Dr. Jay Badenhoop, professor of chemistry, presented 这个奖项.
萨布莉尔 Haggerty receives Mauzy-Harris History 奖
萨布莉尔 Haggerty, a history major from 大尺度W.Va., received the Mauzy-Harris History 奖, which was created by Pittsburgh Businessman Sydney Harris in honor of former history professor and dean of Potomac State 大学, Frank Mauzy. 这个奖项是 presented by Cassandra Pritts, associate professor of history.
亚历克西斯 Taylor receives the Outstanding SAGE BAS Student 奖
亚历克西斯 Taylor, from 大尺度W.Va., and majoring in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship (SAGE), was presented with the Outstanding SAGE BAS Student 奖 by Professor Jeffrey Jones.
纳撒尼尔·兰格 and 路加福音邓肯 receive awards
纳撒尼尔·兰格, a PSC-Early Start student from Ridgely, W.Va., was the recipient of the Willa Louise Cather 奖 for Best Noncreative Essay. 的名字命名 Professor Emerita Dr. Willa Louise Cather, this award is presented to a student whose essay represents the best noncreative work produced in all English classes during the year. 路加福音邓肯 (right), a PSC-Early Start student from Ridgeley, W.Va., was the recipient of the Anthony Duke Whitmore 奖. Four PSC Students receive Outstanding 西班牙奖
Spanish Instructor Julia Leverone presented Abigail Peace, a mathematics major from 弗吉尼亚州Berryville.; Emily Kimble, a secondary education major from Moorefield, W.Va.; Emma Craddock, a political science major from Ridgeley, W.Va.; and Emma Hubbard, a psychology major from Martinsburg, W.Va.; with the Outstanding 西班牙奖. Peace was also the recipient of the PSC Alumni Scholarship.
Staggers is recipient of Outstanding Business Management Student 奖
Chase Staggers, a business management major from 大尺度W.Va., was the recipient of the Outstanding Business Management Student 奖. Associate Professor Amy Weaver and Instructor JoAnn Burnett presented 这个奖项. He also received the John Philip Spoerl Scholarship from the PSC Alumni Association.
